There’s an old saying: Bigger isn’t necessarily better. But in the case of the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC), the exact opposite will be true. At the moment, it’s the largest convention center anywhere on the West Coast.
Covering a total of1.6 million square feet of space, the ACC has been the venue of choice for everything from elaborate tradeshows, conferences, and concerts to intimate meetings, receptions, and banquets. And it’s currently undergoing an extreme makeover that will make it even more impressive once completed in 2017. The expansion includes creating an additional 200,000 square feet of flexible space. What’s more, new loading docks will be added and the vehicular entrance will be improved. There will also be a new connection to the convention center’s second level.
The reasons for the changes to the nearly 50-year-old Anaheim Convention Center are many. The main one is that innumerable companies today that are holding trade shows and conventions simply need more room. Specifically, they require a minimum of 200,000 square feet. Well, at present, the ACC has 813,000 square feet of space for exhibits and 160,000 square feet for meetings and ballroom activities and it’s just not cutting it.
With the expansion, the ACC will be in prime position to not only retain their current clients but they will be able to bring in new clients, especially in the growing medical and technology sectors. The larger facility will also be able to handle several big shows at the same time.
